Come and discover the amazing story Great Brickhill has to tell
This is your starting point for exploring the Great Brickhill Heritage Project. You do not need to understand the whole website. Choose something that interests you and follow one route at a time.
Discover and Share Great Brickhill’s Heritage
Explore the village through photographs, slideshows, historical information and local walks. Much of the site is open to everyone, while Great Brickhill residents can join free of charge.
Great Brickhill Yesterday
Enjoy twelve publicly selected photographs from our collection and discover the stories behind them.
My Slideshow
Choose subjects and keywords to bring related photographs together as a focused slideshow.
The public introduction explains the facility; registered members can then open the wider photograph collection and create their own selections.
Our Photo Tours
Follow a prepared sequence of photographs that tells a visual story about the village, its landscape or a particular period.
Begin with the Autumn Virtual Tour and see how a simple image collection can become a guided journey.
Not sure where to begin?
Start with the clue or interest that brought you here: a person, a place, an event, a photograph, an object or simply curiosity.
Your Story — Your Toolbox will suggest a small, relevant route through the Project rather than presenting the whole website at once.
Toe in the Water Sessions
Would a friendly introduction help?
We are considering one or two informal autumn sessions in the Village Hall for people who would appreciate a little help exploring the Heritage Project website.
No dates have been fixed. First, we would like to understand what would be useful and when people might be available.
What might a session cover?
- exploring historic photographs and family material;
- finding your way around the website;
- discovering slideshows, walks and the Virtual Tour;
- registering, signing in or recovering access;
- contributing photographs, memories or corrections;
- finding a small way to help the Heritage Project.
These would be relaxed, practical sessions rather than formal classes. Expressing an interest does not commit you to attending.
