Help Build the Heritage Record

Your knowledge can make a difference

A name, date, photograph, memory or small correction can help preserve the village story. You do not need to write a finished article before you begin.

Choose how to help

Identify a photograph

Recognise a face, building or occasion? Give the photograph reference and explain what you recognise.

Develop page material

Use My Pages to return to the member page facility and prepare or follow your own submissions. You will need to be signed in.

Talk through an idea

If you would appreciate help getting started, tell us what you would like to explore through Toe in the Water.

Make your contribution easy to use

Identify the page, photograph or subject first. Explain the addition or correction you suggest, and give the source: a document, publication, photograph or your own recollection. If possible, include an approximate date and the names or places involved.

A careful partial answer is welcome

You may remember the people but not the year, or recognise a building without knowing its former name. Say which details you know and which are uncertain. We can record a useful clue without turning it into an established fact.

Photographs and personal material

Tell us who owns a photograph or document and whether they have agreed to its use. Please do not include private contact details or sensitive information about another person. A submission can be reviewed without being published immediately.

What happens next?

Contributions and proposed page material are reviewed before publication. We may ask for clarification or further evidence. Personal recollection remains identifiable as recollection, and unresolved questions can stay open for others to help answer.

Help us understand our visitors

Three quick questions about your visit.

This anonymous survey helps us understand who uses the Heritage Project and whether visitors find what they are looking for. We do not ask for your name, email address or contact details. If you choose No, you may optionally tell us why in up to 180 characters; please do not include names, email addresses, telephone numbers or other personal/contact information. Any such reason is retained for no more than 13 months.
