Tony Butcher (quoted below) has been kind enough to transcribe the main elements of a failed planning proposal to erect a wind turbine ‘farm’ in nearby Dorcas Lane, Stoke Hammond in 2011. There was significant local pressure to defeat the proposal including, I am told, two coach loads of ‘objectors’ from the neighbourhood who were transported to the courts at Aylesbury for the hearing. They successfully defeated the application.

29/6/2011 Planning application submitted by Force 9 Energy for erection of temporary meteorological mast.

20/3/2013 Aylesbury Vale District Council – permission refused. Force 9 initiate an appeal to Eric Pickles the secretary of state.
24/6/2014 A public enquiry over three days into the appeal took place and the appeal was refused.
The full refusal document (112 pages) can be viewed on the Historic England site under documents / legal / decision-wind-farm-dorcas-lane-soulbury-pdf/
A substantial number of objections were received by the council from residents in Stoke Hammond and the six surrounding villages directly affected by the proposals (Hollingdon, Soulbury, Great Brickhill, Stewkley, Drayton Parslow and Newton Longville).
The action group STOP Dorcas Lane Wind Turbines (SDLT) was created to oppose the Force 9 application. SDLT raised funds through donation to oppose the plan and to engage legal counsel for representation at planning and appeal.
