I am quoting from Colonel Robert Stuart Macrae’s book Winston Churchill’s Toy Shop. He was a revered inventor of military ordnance and became a personal friend of Sir Winston when they were both relatively junior in their careers. The book is still in print in paperback and I highly recommend it for anyone interested in local history. It is possible that one or more Great Brickhill families or friends were involved in the unit as well.
