Village life is rarely recorded in one place. An event may appear in photographs, reports, personal memories, club records, books and the History Time Line.
“What happened here during the war?” “Do you have anything about the 1977 Silver Jubilee?” “When did this club begin?”
Define the event broadly
When?
Use an exact date where known, or a decade, season, school year, working life or position before or after another event.
What kind of event?
Celebrations, school or church life, clubs, wartime activity, emergencies and everyday change may use different sources.
Who and where?
Names, organisations, buildings, fields and streets can connect otherwise separate records.
Build an evidence chain
A strong result may combine a photograph, a name, a newspaper reference and a place rather than rely on one source.
Where the date or event remains uncertain, a clarifying question is more useful than a list of unrelated material.
